Trump Tells Gathering of Police Chiefs: ‘You Don’t Hear it From the Media’ How Much America Loves You

President Donald Trump accused the media of not conveying America’s appreciation of law enforcement officers at a gathering of police chiefs on Monday.

Speaking in Orlando at the Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Convention, the president slammed the press for their coverage of police officers.

“I don’t think you understand one thing,” Trump said. “How much our country loves you and the job you do.”

Pointing to the back of the hall where the media was gathered, the president said, “You don’t hear it from them. You don’t hear it from them.”

The line was met with applause and cheers in the hall.

“They don’t tell you the real feeling,” Trump said. “They don’t tell you the true feeling. But I know the true feeling. I know the true feeling. You don’t hear it from the media, but I can tell you, I know the feeling. These people, the people of our country, love you. So I just want you to know it direct.”
