Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold a press briefing today from the White House. The briefing is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM ET.
One of the topics that Sanders will almost certainly be pressed on this afternoon will be President Trump’s attacks on Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY). This morning, Trump took to Twitter to claim that Gillibrand used to come to his office “begging” for political donations and “would do anything for them.” Those comments have caused widespread outrage and Gillibrand has called Trump’s tweet a “sexist smear.”
Sanders will also likely be asked about today’s Alabama Senate special election. Earlier this month, the president officially endorsed embattled GOP nominee Roy Moore, who has been accused of sexually abusing teenage girls when he was in his 30s. Last Friday, POTUS held a campaign-style rally in Pensacola, Florida and called on Alabama voters to get out and vote for Moore.
Look for Sanders to get questioned on the women who have accused the president of inappropriate behavior and sexual misconduct. A day after three women appeared on Megyn Kelly’s NBC program to talk about their allegations, a fourth accuser gave her first television interview to Kelly, detailing an alleged groping incident at the hands of Trump.
We may see more fireworks like we witnessed at yesterday’s briefing when things got heated between Sanders and a number of reporters over the president’s fake news claims against mainstream media outlets. The press secretary lost her cool as she battled it out with CNN’s Jim Acosta and others.
