Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) fired back at President Donald Trump for his name-calling tweet this morning.
In case you missed it, the president took to Twitter earlier today to take aim at Gillibrand for calling on him to resign over allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct. In his tweet, Trump claimed that Gillibrand used to come to his office “begging” for political donations and “would do anything for them.”
After responding on Twitter by stating that the president “cannot silence” her, Gillibrand answered questions from reporters about Trump’s insults.
“It was a sexist smear attempting to silence my voice, and I will not be silenced on this issue,” she said at the press conference. “Neither will the women who stood up to the president yesterday.”
Gillibrand was referencing the three female accusers of Trump who came forward yesterday to speak to NBC’s Megyn Kelly. They also held a press conference detailing the allegations of inappropriate behavior they’ve made against the president.
