WATCH: Sarah Huckabee Sanders Holds Press Briefing Following Spicer’s Resignation LIVE STREAM
Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold an on-camera press briefing at the White House today, where she will address the sudden departure of her boss. The briefing will begin at 2:00 p.m. EST.
Press Secretary Sean Spicer resigned from his position earlier today, reportedly out of frustration with President Trump‘s decision to hire Anthony Scaramucci as the new White House Communications Director. The news rocked the political world, and the development has sparked questions about the current power dynamic within the Trump Administration.
Spicer’s leaving is raising questions about whether Chief of Staff Reince Priebus will stay in the White House for much longer. The former Republican National Committee figures have remained in each others’ corners throughout the Trump presidency, but in light of the current development, numerous media figures are wondering whether the rumors about Priebus’ imminent firing might actually prove true.
Beyond Spicer, it is possible Sanders will discuss a number of other recent developments as well. New reports suggest that the Administrations is looking at their options to discredit or counteract Robert Mueller and his special counsel’s investigation into Russian election meddling. Other reports state Trump has been asking questions recently about the extent of his presidential powers to pardon.
Other topics that might come up include the recent setbacks to health care reform, Trump’s “Made in America” week, and the status of Trump’s relationship with Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
This will be the White House’s first on-camera briefing since June 29.
