‘Would Ya’ll Put Mickey Mouse in Handcuffs?!’ New Bodycam Vid of Viral Chuck E. Cheese Mascot Arrest Is Pure Chaos

Newly released bodycam footage showing the viral moment Florida police stormed a Tallahassee Chuck E. Cheese restaurant to arrest the chain’s giant mouse mascot is as bizarre and chaotic as expected.

The clip shows officers entering the premises and speaking with a manager before moving in on 41-year-old Jermel Jones, who was working and dressed as Chuck E. Cheese when they arrived with a warrant.

“We’re gonna detain the mouse,” one officer tells his colleague.

Approaching Jones while he was standing with a mother and her child, officers began wrestling the oversized rodent into cuffs.

“Chuck E., come with me, Chuck E,” one officer repeats, before shouting: “Chuck E. stop resisting, stop resisting. You’re being detained, stop resisting. Let it go, let it go.”

Parents scrambled to usher their children out of sight, but not before at least one young voice asked: “What are you doing?”

“Chuck E., no!” another child can be heard shouting as officers walked the suspect out of the building.

One furious adult then demands the officers “walk him out the door instead of traumatizing all these children seeing someone like Chuck E. Cheese get arrested.”

He adds: “Would y’all put Mickey Mouse in handcuffs?!”

The officer flatly responded: “Have a good night.”

Police later confirmed Jones was arrested on three felony counts, including credit card theft and fraudulent use of personal identification. The investigation traces back to a July complaint of around $100 in unauthorized charges linked to the restaurant.

“It is unfortunate that the person who is subject of this investigation and who we had probable cause on happened to be in a suit and in costume,” police spokesperson Alicia Hill told the network in a statement.

Jones has denied wrongdoing.
