‘You’re Really Disgusting’: Scarborough Rips Into Media Members Who Say He Supports Trump

While going over some of the newest state-by-state polling data just days before the presidential election, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough took a quick detour to clearly state that he is not — under any circumstances — “rooting” for Republican nominee Donald Trump.

“Now in case you have a short attention span,” Scarborough said during a segment in the 6 o’clock hour Friday, “Joe’s not saying this is going to happen, Joe’s saying it might happen. It might happen. Could happen. Along with Nate Silver I think there is a 35% chance that it will happen.” He was referencing the statistical likelihood that Trump could win next Tuesday’s election, a prospect forecasted by Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight.

“I don’t want you to think three minutes from now that anybody here is rooting for Donald Trump,” he clarified with a hardened look into the camera lens. “God, you people. You need to do your job and be journalists. You’re really disgusting.”

His cohost Mika Brzezinski chimed in, “Oh come on. That’s not nice,” as the segment moved along.

Although Scarborough didn’t directly call out the targets of his harsh rhetoric, many in the media have alleged that the Morning Joe cohost has been favorable to Trump; the Washington Post once called the show “a cozy social club,” and Scarborough notably has sparred in the past with CNN personalities, like senior media reporter Dylan Byers over claims that the Morning Joe hosts have been overly friendly with the real estate titan turned GOP nominee. Last month CNN host Brian Stelter identified Scarborough as, “one of Trump’s biggest media boosters,” during the primaries, noting that the MSNBC host regularly “praised and defended,” Trump on the morning show. Even New Day host Chris Cuomo from CNN took a shot at Scarborough this summer over the Trump dynamic, saying “Joe was trump’s booster!” and “Joe is a pol not a journo after all.”
