Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) accused President Joe Biden’s administration of “staging a civil war” on Monday and called on Texas to “stand their ground” over the border.

After the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Biden administration in its fight with Texas for control of the southern border, Higgins weighed in on social media.

“My thoughts are that the feds are staging a civil war, and Texas should stand their ground,” wrote Higgins.

As the situation at the southern border continues to deteriorate, the state of Texas has taken matters into its own hands.

Earlier this month, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas National Guard seized control of a section of the southern border, banning federal Border Patrol agents from entering and prohibiting migrants from crossing into the United States.

On Monday, the Supreme Court voted 5-4 in support of the Biden administration and ruled that federal agents could remove sections of barbed wire to allow migrants into the country.

In response to the ruling, a spokesperson for Gov. Abbott argued, “The absence of razor wire and other deterrence strategies encourages migrants to make unsafe and illegal crossings between ports of entry.”

He added, “This case is ongoing, and Governor Abbott will continue fighting to defend Texas’ property and its constitutional authority to secure the border.”

Abbott told Dana Loesch this month, “We are deploying every tool and strategy that we possibly can. The only thing that we’re not doing is we’re not shooting people who come across the border because, of course, the Biden administration would charge us with murder.”
