‘Death Is Better Than This’: CNN Airs Shocking Footage of Gazan Children Hospitalized for Malnutrition

CNN’s Christiane Amanpour called shocking footage of starving children out of Gaza a perfect example of why so many are calling for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

In a report by Nada Bashir, footage from a hospital treating children for malnutrition was shown. Amanpour noted 15 children have died of starvation and dehydration, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.

One mother, standing near her recently-deceased daughter Mila, said the war changed everything.

“She was healthy,” she said about her daughter. “There was nothing wrong with her before. Then suddenly everything dropped. She wasn’t eating anything. We had no milk, eggs, nothing. She used to eat eggs every day before, but now we have nothing.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the strikes on Gaza will not stop until Hamas is eliminated. The terror group attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killing more than 1,000 and kidnapping hundreds more. Thousands of civilians have died in Gaza since.

The report included images of children rummaging through trash for food. One boy, named Muhammed, was shown on his more-than-one mile trek everyday to get water for his family.

“It is all too much,” the emotional boy said.

Another woman described death as “better” than the current state of Gaza.

“There is no food, no water, no flower, cooking oil, or anything. Death is better than this,” she said.

Amanpour said the report was “the example, the reality of why so many around the world are now calling for a humanitarian ceasefire.”
