Ghislaine Maxwell’s Brother Thanks Trump For Making ‘Positive Statement’ About Her: I Know She Was ‘Grateful’
Ian Maxwell, the brother of convicted child sex trafficker and Jeffrey Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, thanked President Donald Trump on Tuesday for making a “positive statement” about and showing “humanity” towards his sister.
During an interview with Maxwell’s brother on Piers Morgan Uncensored, host Piers Morgan asked his guest whether it was possible his sister may have “pulled the wool over your eyes” and downplayed her role in Epstein’s sexual abuse of underage girls.
“No, I believe my sister. I’ve known her 60 years, Piers,” Maxwell’s brother replied. “You know, I’m not going to suddenly say she started pulling the wool. I don’t think so. I don’t believe so. Not for a second.”
He then added:
And interestingly, President Trump was asked the only time, I believe, in public – at the tail end of his presidency, so, you know, November, December 2021 – about Ghislaine and he said, “You know, I don’t know much about it, but I wish her well.” And I don’t think that anyone else showed the slightest piece of humanity, not anybody at that time, and yet he did. He didn’t need to. He’s the president of the United States, the most powerful man in the world. He could’ve just sloughed it off. He didn’t. He made a positive statement. I am very grateful to that and I know Ghislaine was too.
Trump spoke positively about Maxwell on several occasions in the Summer of 2020 after she was arrested and charged with child sex trafficking.
“I haven’t really been following it too much. I just wish her well, frankly,” said Trump in July 2020 upon being asked about Maxwell. “I’ve met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach. And I guess they lived in Palm Beach. But I wish her well.”
Just one month later, Trump again wished the Epstein accomplice “well” and told Jonathan Swan he was “not looking for anything bad for her.”
“I wish her well, I’d wish you well, l’d wish a lot of people well. Good luck. Let them prove somebody was guilty,” said Trump. “Her boyfriend died in jail and people are still trying to figure out how did it happen? Was it suicide? Was he killed? And I do wish her well. I’m not looking for anything bad for her. I’m not looking bad for anybody.”
After Swan pointed out that Maxwell was “an alleged child sex trafficker,” Trump replied, “But all it is is her boyfriend died. He died in jail. Was he killed? Was it suicide? I do, I wish her well.”
In 2022, Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt ignored a reporter last week after he asked during a press briefing whether Trump was considering a pardon for Maxwell.
