Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) had some strong words Friday for Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), his controversial fellow member of the House Republican Conference.
Kinzinger wrote on Twitter: “Lauren Boebert is TRASH.”

Marina Zimmerman, who is challenging Boebert in the Republican primary retweeted the out-going Kinzinger, writing, “Help me take out the trash.”
Kinzinger’s tweet comes on the heels of comments Boebert made in a now-viral video in which she mocked Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) as a potential terror threat.
“So the other night on the House floor was not my first jihad squad moment,” Boebert said in the clip.
“So I was getting into an elevator with one of my staffers. And he and I are – we’re leaving the Capitol. We’re going back to my office and we get in the elevator, and I see a Capitol Police officer running hurriedly to the elevator. Well, she doesn’t have a backpack. We should be fine,” Boebert jested, telling an apparently “made up” anecdote as a joke.
Boebert, who represents the western slope of Colorado, apologized on Twitter Friday, saying, “I apologize to anyone in the Muslim community I offended with my comment about Rep. Omar. I have reached out to her office to speak with her directly.”
I apologize to anyone in the Muslim community I offended with my comment about Rep. Omar. I have reached out to her office to speak with her directly. There are plenty of policy differences to focus on without this unnecessary distraction.

Omar responded to the clip Thrusday, writing, “Fact, this buffoon looks down when she sees me at the Capitol, this whole story is made up. Sad she thinks bigotry gets her clout.”

Anti-Muslim bigotry isn’t funny & shouldn’t be normalized. Congress can’t be a place where hateful and dangerous Muslims tropes get no condemnation. https://t.co/S1APT7RbqW
