‘BONANZA FOR AMERICA!!!’ Trump Hypes Up Tariffs, Says They Could Lead to Taxes Being ‘Completely Eliminated’ for Workers Under $200K

President Donald Trump is vowing such success with his widely-derided tariff plan that income taxes could be “completely eliminated” for many American workers.

In a Sunday morning post on Truth Social, the president made a bold pledge about the degree to which he believes his tariffs will work.

“When Tariffs cut in, many people’s Income Taxes will be substantially reduced, maybe even completely eliminated,” Trump wrote. “Focus will be on people making less than $200,000 a year. Also, massive numbers of jobs are already being created, with new plants and factories currently being built or planned. It will be a BONANZA FOR AMERICA!!! THE EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE IS HAPPENING!!!”

New polling shows Americans are highly skeptical the tariffs will work. According to a new poll out Sunday from ABC News, the Washington Post and Ipsos, just 34 percent of respondents approve of the tariffs, and 72 percent believe Trump’s economic policies will trigger a recession. Additionally, the poll found 73 percent of Americans think the economy is in bad shape, and 53 percent believe it has gotten worse since President Trump took office back in January.

Overall, Trump’s approval stands at 39 percent, according to the new ABC/Washington Post/Ipsos poll. That’s the lowest job approval for a president at roughly the 100-day mark of his term going all the way back to at least 1945.
