New Book Claims Sidney Powell Proposed Plan to Seize Voting Machines in Plot So Crazy That Rudy Giuliani Said It Went Too Far
A new book alleges that Sidney Powell – a former attorney for former President Donald Trump – proposed seizing voting machines from election offices in swing states, but her plan was shut down by Rudy Giuliani.
Journalists Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidman joined MSNBC for an interview on Wednesday, where the two authors spoke about the details in their new book Find Me the Votes: A Hard-Charging Georgia Prosecutor, a Rogue President, and the Plot to Steal an American Election.
The book delves into the behind-the-scenes accounts of the Trump White House attempting to overturn the presidential 2020 election to keep the current GOP frontrunner in office. Trump faces multiple criminal charges in Georgia for trying to overturn the election in the state.
In October, Powell pleaded guilty to several misdemeanors in the case. Isikoff and Klaidman revealed in their new book that Powell crafted a plan for ex-intel operatives to break into election offices after gaining hunting licenses and seize voting machines.
Powell reportedly wanted Trump to preemptively pardon all individuals involved in the plan. Isikoff and Klaidman write in their new book:
The idea was to tap ex-intel operatives who would break into election offices in swing states and seize Dominion voting machines and servers so they could prove the equipment had been hacked by foreign powers. The operatives would need hunting licenses in order to fulfill their mission. “Hunting licenses? What in the world were they talking about?”
Powell chimed in. “Pardon.” She said. “From President Trump, I need six to eight pardons. But these weren’t ordinary pardons for past misconduct. They would be preemptive pardons,” she explained, an advance permission slip from the president to protect the operatives from criminal prosecution in the future, should any pesky prosecutors go after them for breaching an election office and stealing data.
Klaidman then revealed during his MSNBC interview that when Powell proposed this plan to Giuliani, he quickly shut down the idea.
“They actually went to, Trump campaign headquarters and to Rudy Giuliani, to to get him to ask the president,” Klaidman noted. “He said, well, this is, this may go a little too far. This is impractical.”
