WATCH: Fox News Host Nails Trump Adviser on NAFTA

On Saturday, Fox News had Donald Trump for President Advisory Board member Dr. Gina Loudon on to talk NAFTA.

It did not go well.

First, the co-anchor of America’s News Headquarters Leland Vittert asked “really, we’d all be better off if we canceled our bilateral trade agreements with Canada?” referring to Trump’s morning tweets.

In response, Loudon said that she thinks Trump’s interests are the same as the American people, which is that jobs were lost because of sending work abroad.

Trying to get her to go beyond Trumpian talking points, Vittert then interjected, “There’s also tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of American jobs that rely on having NAFTA in place to trade with Canada. Those people lose their jobs just the same if you cancel NAFTA.”

Loudon did not directly answer his claims, and instead offered this pro-Trump claim: “The president’s going to make sure as he always has. This president ran on the subject of jobs. And he has not forgotten that for one second. Even the stock market reflects America’s confidence right now in this president’s ability to lead on economics.”

Vittert then noted he interviewed a lot of businesses that have been negatively impacted as well as people who will lose their jobs if NAFTA is no longer in place.

Loudon seemed to brush that away, with another mindless, pro-Trump statement that seemed to evade the substance of the issue.

“Growth always requires a little bit of pain so they’re gonna be short-term pain for long-term gain,” Loudon said. “I think that’s how the president has used this whole negotiating tactic.”

The Fox co-anchor then asked if Trump’s NAFTA tweets were a tactic.

Loudon replied, “The president’s been clear that wants to negotiate for everyone but he doesn’t look for just America’s success, he looks for the whole world to be successful.”
