‘THIS IS CORRUPTION!’ Soccer Owner Absolutely Loses it After His Team Blows Late 3-Goal Lead, Accuses Ref of Fixing the Match
The owner of Brazilian soccer club Botafogo was so furious about the team blowing a 3-0 lead on Wednesday that he accused the referees of fixing the game.
In the team’s match against Palmeiras, Botafogo led 3-0. Palmeiras eventually tied the game before hitting the go-ahead goal in the ninth minute of stoppage time. Aiding in that final goal was a red card against Botafogo defender Adryelson in the 76th minute. Palmeiras scored its final three goals in his absence.

Speaking after the game, Botafogo owner John Textor called it “corruption.”
“The whole world saw it!” Textor said during a live post-match interview. “That is not a red card! He got the ball first. If it’s even a foul, I’m not sure. It is not a red card. He changed the game. This is corruption! This is a theft! Please fine me, (Brazilian Football Confederation President Ednaldo Rodrigues), but you need to resign tomorrow morning. That’s what needs to happen. This championship has become a joke.
“Nobody deserves this. These players from Palmeiras, they won’t wanna win this way. We don’t wanna lose this way.”
During his rant, players from Palmeiras walked past him as they made their way to their locker room. He made sure to tell them his anger wasn’t directed toward them.
“Gentlemen, you played a good game,” he continued. “It’s not your fault, but this is fucking corruption. This has to change. Ednaldo, you need to resign for the good of the game. It has to be over now. This is theft! Fine me. You can red-card me. It’s my stadium. I’ll still be here.”
