WATCH: UFC Fighter Complains to Newsmax That Fights Have Been Rigged and Stolen From Him Because He’s a Trump Fan
A UFC fighter told Newsmax he has had fights rigged and stollen stolen (sorry, force of habit) from him because of his support for former President Donald Trump.
Speaking with Eric Bolling on The Balance Tuesday, UFC fighter Colby Covington complained that judges have scored bouts against him not on merit, but because he’s a vocal Trump supporter.
“My whole career, it isn’t just this one fight, my whole career I’ve had to battle against the deck being uneven,” Covington said. “You know the judges scoring against me because they obviously hate Trump. You know, all the people in these positions have big-time Trump Derangement Syndrome. So that’s definitely hurt me in my career.”
On Dec. 16 in Las Vegas (with Trump sitting cageside), Covington lost his welterweight championship bout against Leon Edwards — with all three judges scoring the bout 49-46 in favor of Edwards. Most experts agreed with the decision.
But Bolling took Covington’s theory seriously.
“You think the judges have it out for you,” Bolling told Covington. “I know [UFC Chief] Dana White is a friend of Trump. … You can see Kid Rock right next to Trump in there, and I think Dana White was back there as well. So you know, people — patriotic Americans, people who matter — love Trump. And the people who make the rules, people in D.C. and the judges, maybe not so much.”
“I’ve had my fair share of uneven fights,” Covington replied. “Unfair fights where I was working against the ref and the judges, So you know, it is what it is. The bigger the fight means the higher the calling. And that’s what Trump and I are doing right now.”
