MSNBC Panel Erupts in Fit of Laughter Over Trump Comments About U.S. Cities: ‘There Is Something Wrong With Him’

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace and her political panel erupted in a fit of laughter this afternoon over comments President Donald Trump made to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson about the conditions in some U.S. cities.

After Carlson said that Osaka and Tokyo look much nicer than some U.S. cities (saying in particular that places like San Francisco have a “major problem with filth”), Trump said the following:

“It’s a phenomenon that started two years ago. It’s disgraceful. I’m going to maybe––and I’m looking at it very seriously, we’re doing some other things that you probably noticed, like some of the very important things that we’re doing now. But we’re looking at it very seriously because you can’t do that. You can’t have what’s happening where police officers are getting sick just by walking the beat. I mean, they’re getting actually very sick, where people are getting sick, where the people living there are living in hell, too… And you have people that work in those cities. They work in office buildings and to get into the building, they have to walk through a scene that nobody would have believed possible three years ago. And this is the liberal establishment, this is what I’m fighting.”

As Wallace introduced her panel, she said, “Former RNC Chair Michael Steele, who may or may not have been giggling during that Tucker Carlson clip.”

The panel started laughing hysterically as Wallace jumped into the discussion and asked, “What was that?!”

“I feel like we have to diagram the sentence. The subject was filth… and it’s… wh… I mean, what…” Wallace started to say.

“I am not for coverage of people’s ignorance, but there is something wrong with him,” she said at one point.

Steele laughed again as he walked through the oddity of Trump’s answer, while Joy Reid knocked Carlson as she remarked that the president is “a fellow retiree who watches Fox News.”

She said that Carlson sells an image of cities run by liberals that are “hellholes full of criminals and poverty” and garbage and people peeing because they want “red America to be this pristine wonderland.”
