Trump Admits He Lost 2020 Election After Backtracking: ‘He Beat Us From a Basement’

Donald Trump on Wednesday went back to admitting he lost the election 2020 after claiming his previous admissions were merely sarcasm.

Trump spoke at an event in Mint Hill, North Carolina when he brought up the results of the elections he’s been in. After claiming he did “much better” in 202p, he again expressed how he barely lost.

“We did much better, by the way, in the election of 2020 than we did in 2016,” Trump said to the crowd. “Just remember that millions and millions of votes — more votes than any sitting president in the history of our country — but they beat us by a whisker. They beat us just by a little whisker. He beat us from the basement.”

In recent weeks, Trump has been inconsistent on his thoughts of the 2020 election against President Joe Biden. On the Lex Fridman Podcast in early September, he claimed he “lost by a whisker.” Days later at the ABC News debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, he appeared confused when the quote was read to him. After asking ABC’s David Muir, “I said that?” the former president then explained how his words were meant to be taken “sarcastically.”

He’s since gone back to falsely claiming the election was stolen from him, and has even begun preparing narratives for the 2024 election in the event that he loses.
