Trump and MAGA World Reportedly Livid With MTG for Threatening to Take Out Speaker Johnson: ‘Unwanted. And Just Stupid.’

Former President Donald Trump and his group of advisers have reportedly grown impatient with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) for threatening to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).

Following the passage of the $1.2 trillion spending bill last month, Greene brought forward a motion to vacate the speaker but did not set an exact time period for when the vote would occur. The Georgia lawmaker has recently attacked Johnson after he indicated he would bring a vote for aid to Ukraine to the House floor.

The insiders at Mar-a-Lago and the Republican nominee himself have now reportedly grown frustrated with Greene’s threats to throw out Johnson, believing it would send the House GOP into chaos, according to a report from Politico’s Playbook.

Those in Trump’s orbit believe another high-profile battle over the speakership would decrease the chances of the GOP holding their slim House majority and winning back the Senate and White House.

“100 percent distraction. Unwanted. And just stupid,” one source close to Trump told Playbook. “We’re not going to get trapped into this cycle of bullshit that comes out of members of the House.”

“It’s fair to say we don’t think she’s being constructive,” added another Trump insider while speaking about Greene. “The internal fighting is not appreciated by [Trump].”

Moreover, Trump’s advisers worry a power vacuum in the House GOP leadership would hurt the campaign, especially as Trump and Johnson’s political network are becoming closer.

For one, senior Trump adviser Chris LaCivita has been in close touch with Billy Constangy, Johnson’s top political operative who has worked alongside LaCivita in the past. Hayden Haynes, Johnson’s chief of staff, has met recently with members of Trump’s team, and there’s talk about launching regular meetings between the Trump campaign and Johnson’s operation, as well as the RNC, NRCC and NRSC.
