Trump Doubles Down on His Netanyahu Criticism: Attack on Israel ‘Wouldn’t Have Happened if They Had a Different President’
Former President Donald Trump doubled down on his blaming of Israeli leadership for the outbreak of the war with Hamas — claiming the conflict would’ve never started if others were in charge.
Trump was back in New York on Wednesday while he continues to stand trial over his civil business fraud case. As he walked into the courtroom, reporters asked Trump for his reaction to the hospital bombing that left hundreds of people dead in Gaza.
His reaction:
Terrible thing, it’s a shame. We’ve got to get it working over there. It should’ve never happened. The attack on Israel should’ve never happened, and it wouldn’t have happened if they had a different president. I can tell you that.
Ever since the war began with Hamas’ coordinated attack on Israel, Trump has repeatedly bashed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying “he was not prepared” for the attack. As the conflict unfolded, Trump has called Hezbollah “very smart,” argued he’s the only one who can protect Israel, and claimed multiple times the attack wouldn’t have happened if the 2020 election wasn’t “stolen” from him (it was not).
This rhetoric is adjacent to how often Trump claims the war in Ukraine would’ve never happened if he were still in power, but also if he were president, he could negotiate a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia (which would involve Ukraine giving up its territory).
Watch above.
