Democrat Rep. Tears Into Biden Over ‘Embarrassing, Unforgivable Disaster’ at Border: President Has ‘Lost the Ability’ to Listen

Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) tore into President Joe Biden on Friday over his failure to secure the southern border, calling the migrant crisis “an unmitigated, embarrassing, unforgivable disaster.”

During NewsNation’s Democratic Presidential Forum with Biden challengers Phillips, Cenk Uygur, and Marianne Williamson, host Dan Abrams asked the candidates how they differed from President Biden.

Phillips told Abrams that while he was supportive of Biden’s “investments in America,” the president had failed to “invest in Americans” with “housing, healthcare, education,” and other necessities.

“The other area where I differ with him immensely is our southern border,” said Phillips. “I’ve been there twice, Dan. It is an unmitigated, embarrassing, unforgivable disaster, and Democrats, as Cenk said earlier, have to wake up to the truth.”

He warned, “The more we ignore it, the more we pave a path for Donald Trump to return to the White House, because you know what? He’s actually listening, and I think it’s time that Democrats do, and I’m afraid that President Biden is at a stage where he has lost the ability to legitimately listen.”

Phillips went on to take a shot at Biden for refusing to take part in the forum.

“In fact, where is he? I know he probably couldn’t be here today, but to tell the country that he will not debate a single time in a Democratic primary of such consequence? That’s perhaps the biggest point of differentiation between him, Cenk, Marianne, and me, is showing up,” Phillips concluded.
