Aspiring First Lady Ann Romney took to the Republican National Convention stage last night to make the case for electing her husband president — by offering a personal, less political view of him. Across the board, many pundits agreed that the speech was rousing, including CNN’s Erin Burnett, who had a particularly emotional reaction.
“Her speech was just one of the many memorable moments and I have to say this Wolf, when he came out and her talking about the love for him, I had a tear in my eye — and I think lot of people did,” Burnett told colleague Wolf Blitzer.
Romney’s speech appealed to women, in particular, and also incorporated the theme of love. She offered personal details of her relationship with Mitt Romney (how they met, their life as newlyweds and then with their first son, etc.)
“I want to talk to you tonight not about politics and not about party,” she said. “Tonight, I want to talk to you from my heart about our hearts.”
