On Wed night, MSNBC host Chris Matthews lamented the Democrats’ loss in Georgia’s special election on Tuesday and warned that the defeat “should be a yellow light to all those who think they’ve got this Trump thing all figured out.”
Matthews admits that he is still having a hard time accepting the “undeniable fact that Donald Trump won with a favorability rating of, in the Gallup poll, get this, 35 percent.”
“The election of Donald Trump as President of the United States continues to hit me as more stunning, more phenomenal in our world as anything that happens later”, Matthews said.
How can the President win with polls showing him at 35, Matthews asked, then gave the answer… “if you can handle it.”
Go ahead and tell us, Chris. We can handle it.
First was that Trump used the electoral college to his advantage and was stronger where he had to be, according to Matthews.
Second was that more people voted for Trump but were too embarrassed to admit it to pollsters.
And finally, Matthews explained how the President’s approval rating jumped from 35 to 38 percent.
“The Democratic party hasn’t offered an alternative yet”, Matthews explained.
“They have been so content to Dump Trump and talk about it that they haven’t bothered to trump him with better ideas.”
