Morning Joe Panel Relentlessly Grills Corey Lewandowski on Roy Moore: ‘Read the Paper Corey!’

Morning Joe had former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski on Wednesday morning, and the panel had a simple question: would Lewandowski have advised President Donald Trump to endorse Alabama Senate candidate and accused child molester Roy Moore?

And over the course of a painful five minutes of relentless grilling, Lewandowski miraculously managed to avoid giving a straight answer to that incredibly simple question.

When first asked, it appeared Lewandowski was set to hit the president for his endorsement of Moore, stating: “Here is what I think. I think the political operation in the White House needs to be significantly overhauled. The president has gotten bad advice, and look I’m very critical.”

Lewandowski tried to bring the discussion over to Trump’s policies, but after he was pressed on the Moore endorsement, he repeated the GOP party cop out line that “the people of Alabama will decide” on Moore.

He also noted that he did not personally know Moore, though he conceded that “we have a thing in New Hampshire called ‘street justice'” — though the infamously combative political operative did not elaborate further.

MSNBC’s Willie Geist continued to hold Lewandowski’s feet to the fire over whether the president should be putting his support behind a man accused of pedophilia.

“That’s not for me to decide,” an uncharacteristically weak-kneed Lewandowski replied. “That’s for the people of Alabama.”

“So you’re okay if he’s elected?” Geist asked.

“No, I didn’t say that,” Lewandowski replied, before waffling about due process for a while.

Lewandowski repeated that he had never met Moore, to which an exasperated Geist exclaimed “read the paper Corey!”

The former Trump campaign manager then went on a tangent about “fake news,” before MSNBC analyst John Heilemann brought him back to Moore: “would you advise [Trump] to endorse him or not?”

“The president makes his own decisions,” Lewandowski replied, eliciting a laugh from Heilemann.
