MSNBC’s Wallace Tears Into Giuliani Over Plan to Meddle in Biden Ukraine Probe: ‘How The Bleep Is This Happening?’
MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace and her panel went off on Rudy Giuliani Friday for planning to travel to Ukraine to talk to officials about investigating a matter pertaining to the origins of the Mueller probe and Joe Biden‘s son.
Giuliani defended the trip in comments to CNN today:
Giuliani tells CNN he intends to travel soon to Ukraine to meet with President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky in an effort to push the country to investigate matters connected to the release of negative information about Paul Manafort, the then campaign chairman for Trump’s 2016 campaign. The former New York mayor also said he will continue to pursue questions about Vice President Joe Biden’s call in 2016 to remove the top Ukrainian prosecutor, who at one point had been investigating a Ukrainian natural gas company connected to Biden’s son.
He went on Fox News with Laura Ingraham Thursday night to address his trip and talk about the seriousness of these investigations.
Wallace asked today, “How the bleep is this happening?”
Former FBI official Frank Figliuzzi said it’s not a consistent position for Giuliani to take after what he’s had to say about elements of the Russia investigation.
It also raised questions for him like “will he receive a thing of value from a foreign government that helps Trump get re-elected?” and “are the Ukrainians going to do something they would not have already done and therefore provide assistance from a foreign power to a presidential reelection campaign.”
“Rudy Giuliani has already said in advance of the trip––and I guess this is a legal strategy that you have to pay extra for, confess your crime on Fox News,” Wallace said. “and then it won’t be found a crime when a special counsel is appointed to investigate it.”
