As if Donald Trump could not hijack the 2016 presidential race any more than he already has, some commentators on Twitter spread the news Monday afternoon that as Governor Scott Walker (R-WI) took the stage to make his campaign announcement the crowd could be heard chanting, “We want Trump!”
The rumor seems to have started with MSNBC contributor and daughter of a former GOP presidential candidate, Abby Huntsman. She has since deleted her original insinuation after the rest of Twitter quickly corrected her:
If so, it sure sounded like Trump. https://t.co/N3HKvUvjLC

Apologize if I misheard the crowd chanting.

But that didn’t stop it from spreading:
Just listening to the Scott Walker candidacy announcement, thought I heard "WE WANT TRUMP!" crazy huh? @realDonaldTrump

Did the crowd just chant, "We want Trump" at Scott Walker's announcement rally?

Scott Walker just walked on stage to announce his candidacy. The crowd was chanting "we want Trump."

A FEW MOMENTS AGO WHEN GOVERNOR SCOTT WALKER WALK OUT ON STAGE…YOU COULD HEAR THE PHRASE…"WE WANT TRUMP"…HE REPLIED.."ONLY IN AMERICA"

Actually, Walker’s first line was, “I love America.”
The general consensus here is that the crowd was definitively chanting “We want Scott!” and that people need to get Donald Trump out of their heads.
