On this morning’s edition of Fox & Friends, Sen. Rand Paul stopped by, and gave his thoughts on the new Washington Post report that the infamous Trump-Russia dossier was funded by a lawyer for the Clinton campaign and the DNC.
Never one not to make news waves in morning, Rand responded to the report by alleging perhaps an even bigger story.
Specifically, Rand claimed that there are “rumors” that the release of the “Clinton emails” made available to Wikileaks might have have been an inside job by the DNC. Per the exchange:
Earhardt: We want to get your reaction about the Russian reversal. Sources say that Hillary Clinton’s campaign teamed up with the DNC to help pay for the dossier on President Trump. What is your reaction?
Paul: It amazes me for a year the Democrats have been whining, whining, and whining saying they lost because of the Russians. It looks like it’s their subterfuge, their ideas, they’re buying the dossier. Also, you know there are rumors the leaks that went to Wikileaks from all of Clinton emails came from the Democrats as well. So it’s kind of funny, everything they blamed on Republicans it looks like they were the ones responsible for.
Steve Doocy responded in true Doocy fashion by airbrushing over Rand’s explosive comments with a casual “sure,” before entertaining the validity of Rand’s statements by noting how “Hillary Clinton” was “financing the dossier” at the time of Donald Trump Jr’s June 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer.
When asked by Brian Kilmeade about reports that the dossier was initially funded by a Republican, Rand responded as any innocent man would:
It wasn’t me. I don’t know who it was. It might have been one of other primary candidates. There were 16 of them. All I can say it wasn’t me.
