Rep. Bachmann Accidentally Wishes Elvis A Happy Birthday (It’s Actually The Anniversary Of His Death)

Oh man. Today, at a campaign stop in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Michele Bachmann wished Elvis Presley a happy birthday. Unfortunately, Elvis was born in January. August 16th is actually the anniversary of his death. Oops.

In other news, CNN’s Political Ticker won the race to be the first to use the phrase “All Shook Up” in their headline. Congrats, guys!

At the stop, Bachmann played some Elvis tunes and instructed everyone in the crowd to join her in giving the King some birthday wishes. She then continued:

“We played you a little bit of Promise Land when we pulled up. You can’t do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work.”

At this point, you’ve just got to feel a little bad for her. This comes right off the heels of the even goofier John Wayne/John Wayne Gacy screw up. Neither of these are her fault. I mean, how many of you know what day Elvis was born?

Put your hand down, Rod Blagojevich.

Really though, after both of these flubs, you have to ask who is in charge over there? They may be pretty inconsequential, but it’s silly things like these that contribute to an overall image of a candidate.

All in all, Bachmann better be hoping that the GOP is primarily made up of Beatles people.
