‘Sick People!’ Trump Attacks ‘Low-Rated’ Kaitlan Collins in Oval Office Showdown Over Deported El Salvadoran Man
President Donald Trump repeatedly attacked CNN’s Kaitlan Collins as she attempted to get an answer about the fate of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the El Salvadoran national American courts have ruled was wrongly deported back to his home country, but that Trump administration officials have indicated they will not retrieve.
The exchange began with Trump calling on Collins by remarking, “Let’s hear the question from this very low-rated anchor at CB-, at CNN. Low-rated!”
“Do you plan to ask President Bukele to help return the man who your administration says was mistakenly deported to El Salvador?” asked Collins with the El Salvadoran president, Nayib Bukele, sitting next to Trump.
Trump then handed the floor over to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, both of whom presented warped explanations of a Supreme Court decision ordering the Trump administration to facilitate the return of Abrego Garcia to the United States from an El Salvadoran prison, with Trump only joining in to argue that CNN was “totally slanting because they don’t know what’s happening.”
“That’s why nobody’s watching them,” he added.
Collins pressed on, repeating her question about whether the administration would request that Bukele send Abrego Garcia back and asking Bukele directly if he would send him back.
After Bukele answered that he wouldn’t “smuggle a terrorist into the United States,” Trump mused that “they’d love to have a criminal, you know, released into our country. They would love it. They’re- these are sick people.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Miller took turns rebuking Collins again, after which she noted that Trump had previously stated that he would abide by court orders to bring those wrongly deported back into the country.
“Why don’t you just say, ‘Isn’t it wonderful that we’re keeping criminals out of our country?'” retorted Trump. “Why can’t you say that? Why do you go over and over, and that’s why nobody watches you anymore, you know, you have no credibility.”
