On Tuesday night, the Hand In Hand telethon, a star-studded fundraiser for relief after Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma, was politically charged right from the beginning by music legend Stevie Wonder.
Before performing, Wonder kicked off the hour-long telethon that aired on all the major networks with a sermon-like message to viewers.
“We’ve come together today to love on the people who have been devastated by the hurricanes,” Wonder began. “When love goes into action, it preferences no color of skin, no ethnicity, no religious beliefs, no sexual preferences, and no political persuasions. It just loves.”
But then things got a little warmer…
“As we should begin to love and value our planet,” Wonder continued. “And anyone who believes that there’s no such thing as global warming must be blind or unintelligent. Lord, save us all.”
