The View Calls Out Ivanka Trump for Comments About Security Clearances: Caught in Her ‘First Public Lie’

The hosts of The View today looked back on Ivanka Trump‘s comments to co-host Abby Huntsman in a recent interview about security clearances, given the big New York Times interview this week.

Last month, Huntsman questioned the first daughter and White House senior advisor on the issue of clearances. Ivanka Trump explicitly said, “The president had no involvement pertaining to my clearance or my husband’s clearance.”

The Times reported this week that President Donald Trump ordered officials to give Jared Kushner a top-secret security clearance over “concerns flagged by intelligence officials and the White House’s top lawyer.”

Huntsman said on The View today, “It wasn’t breaking news at the time but I knew it could be if there was more news that would come out.”

Sunny Hostin noted the significant part about John Kelly‘s memo on this, while Joy Behar asked why POTUS has family members in important jobs to begin with.

Meghan McCain praised Huntsman for “catching her in her first public lie,” saying that a problem with the president is that he’s surrounded by sycophants and yes-men.
