The View Clashes in Fiery Debate on Melania’s #MeToo Comments: ‘She Has an Orange Horse in the Race’
The View‘s opening segment on Thursday featured a fiery clash on the #MeToo movement, in the context of comments made by Melania Trump on the subject.
The discussion started with the First Lady’s remarks, which aired Wednesday on ABC, in which she stated women need to provide evidence to back up claims of sexual misconduct.
Sunny Hostin slammed Mrs. Trump — accusing her of “telling women everywhere your word is not enough” to be believed with claims of misconduct.
Meghan McCain got in next, acknowledging there are legal gray areas for sexual misconduct allegations, but affirming her belief in due process and innocence until proven guilty. Guest co-host Yvette Nicole Brown brought up the multiple women who’ve accused President Donald Trump of misconduct, adding Melania can’t really speak on this issue since “she has an Orange horse in the race.”
This segued into an argument where Abby Huntsman argued with Hostin about whether the latter was saying “evidence doesn’t matter” for misconduct claims.
“Evidence should always matter,” Huntsman argued.
“Testimony is evidence,” Hostin replied. “You don’t need corroborating evidence. You don’t need a rape kit. You don’t need witnesses because oftentimes, there are no witnesses during rape.”
