Trump Blasts Reporter Who Asked If He’s Creating Violence With His Rhetoric: ‘You’re Creating Violence’
President Donald Trump lashed out at the “fake news” once again during a pool spray with reporters this afternoon.
ABC News correspondent Karen Travers brought up a new ABC/Washington Post poll finding that 49 percent of Americans think Trump encourages violence by the way he speaks.
Trump went off in response:
“No, no, you know what? You’re creating violence by your questions. You are creating––you. And, you know, also a lot of the reporters are creating violence by not writing the truth! The fake news is creating violence. And you know what? The people that support Trump and the people that support us––which is a lot of people, most people, many people––those people know when a story is true and know when a story is false. And I’ll tell you what. If the media would write correctly and write accurately and write fairly, you’d have a lot less violence in the country.”
Networks ran the pool spray video of Trump when former President Barack Obama was speaking, leading to a split screen of the two on CNN. You can watch the video above.
UPDATE –– 4:27 pm ET: Travers pointed to comments Sarah Sanders made on Twitter afterwards:
Reminder that earlier this week, Sarah Sanders said "The president is not placing blame."
Today he points a finger at me and says, “You're creating violence by your question. You are creating – you." https://t.co/WEgSoOm70g
