The media world was waiting for it and Donald Trump delivered Wednesday night, performing his now nightly Twitter assault on Fox News after announcing his boycott of the network earlier in the day.
This time, the GOP frontrunner’s outrage came after the National Review’s Rich Lowry suggested that Carly Fiorina “cut [Trump’s] balls off with the precision of a surgeon” at the CNN Republican debate, much to host Megyn Kelly’s shock. “You can’t say that,” Kelly said. For once, she and Trump agreed.
Trump quickly tweeted the following:
Incompetent @RichLowry lost it tonight on @FoxNews. He should not be allowed on TV and the FCC should fine him!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 24, 2015
.@FoxNews owes me an apology for allowing clueless pundit @RichLowry to use such foul language on TV. Unheard of!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 24, 2015
And Lowry was quick to fire back:
.@realDonaldTrump I thought the Carly cut your balls off line might bother you, but you know it's true…
— Rich Lowry (@RichLowry) September 24, 2015
.@realDonaldTrump I love how Mr. Anti-PC now wants the FCC to fine me. #pathetic
— Rich Lowry (@RichLowry) September 24, 2015
.@realDonaldTrump so it's OK for you to insult Carly's looks, but you can't handle me describing what happened to you in the debate?
— Rich Lowry (@RichLowry) September 24, 2015
.@realDonaldTrump man, you can dish it out but you REALLY, REALLY can't take it
— Rich Lowry (@RichLowry) September 24, 2015
.@realDonaldTrump a deal for you, Donald: if you apologize to Carly for your boorish insult, I might stop noting how she cut your b**** off
— Rich Lowry (@RichLowry) September 24, 2015
As CNN’s Brian Stelter pointed out, the FCC doesn’t fine cable networks:
For the record, Trump saying the "FCC should fine" @RichLowry is a non-starter. FCC occasionally fines *broadcast* channels, but not cable.

Earlier this week, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough used similar language in his plea for establishment Republicans to take down Trump.
