As the nationwide manhunt continues, the Metropolitan Police have named 35-year-old Abdul Shokoor Ezedi as the primary suspect in an attack involving a “corrosive substance” that has left a mother and toddler with “life-changing injuries.”
A 31-year-old mother and her two children were targeted in Clapham, London, on Wednesday evening at 7.25pm. The assailant threw a corrosive substance at his victims’ faces.
The mother and her 3-year-old daughter have been left with potentially life-changing conditions. The woman’s other 8-year-old daughter as well as three members of the public who rushed to their aid, suffered minor burns but have since been discharged from the hospital.
In total, the attack resulted in at least 11 people requiring hospitalisation for their injuries.
Ezedi, who is also believed to have sustained significant injuries to the right side of his face during the attack, is considered dangerous. Police have warned the public not to approach him and to dial 999 immediately if spotted.
Superintendent Gabriel Cameron has indicated that Ezedi might be attempting to flee to the Newcastle area, where he reportedly lives.
