Nigel Farage confirmed on Thursday that he will quit his GB News show to campaign for Reform UK in the upcoming general election.

The news comes hours after Farage, who is honourary president of Reform UK, announced in a post to X that he would not be standing as a candidate: “I will do my bit to help in the campaign, but it is not the right time for me to go any further than that.”

He added that, as well as helping Reform UK, he would also be focused on supporting former President Donald Trump’s grassroots election campaign in the U.S.

Responding to Farage’s endorsement and offer of help, Reform UK leader Richard Tice said: “I’m thrilled about it. He’ll be pushing the same message and be helping us get seats elected.”

Tice continued: “He won’t be presenting GB News – he didn’t last night – obviously our friends at Ofcom do have a particular focus on GB News. He won’t be presenting during the election”.

Farage’s representatives then also confirmed his stepping back from broadcasting, at least temporarily.
