WATCH LIVE: Asteroid 2012 DA14 Flies By Earth
Just this morning in Russia, a 10-ton meteor crashed into the Ural Mountains , injuring nearly 1,000 people. This afternoon, an apparently unrelated asteroid measuring 50 meters in diameter will come within 17,000 miles of Earth.
Asteroid 2012 DA14 will pass over the Pacific Ocean between 2pm and 2:30pm ET and you can watch a live stream of the record-close approach by an object of this size right here, courtesy of NASA.
