America Gets Blinded By Glenn Beck’s Sweater

friday fun

Happy Fashion Friday! I’m not in the habit of making sartorial judgments (ever, really) but this was sort of impossible to miss. I have no idea what Glenn Beck was talking about today. Not because he wasn’t making sense — he very well might have been; he was in front of a live audience in Orlando and he’s usually slightly more low key when there’s a group. The reason I have no idea is because Glenn Beck’s sweater was so blinding I couldn’t stare at the TV for any length of time. Not kidding…I think it burned my cornea.

There was some speculation on Twitter that it might be the infamous Christmas sweater come to life…alternately, that a “bloody zebra died to make it.” Maybe it was a secret decoder sweater. One reader wrote to say that he’d had to turn off his HD so it wasn’t just me. Vid below…don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Another great “scoop” Glynnis, your hard hitting journalistic pieces of substance are becoming legendary. A pulitzer awaits.

Like Glenn once said, “to get people to listen, you must get their attention”. You must admit that Glenn does that better than nearly everyone.

Another great comment Tim. Maybe over the weekend you can find a sense of humor.

    Good luck!

I am quick to defend Mr. Beck in most cases. But this sweater just doesn’t cut it. Glenn should take style tips from Bill O’Reilly, who has some very fine threads.

The Fool’s Prophet may have all the answers, but he looks swollen like a hot sausage in those horizontal stripes!

  • timzank

Steve, I’ve got a sense of humor, I’m just just bewildered by Glynnis’s obsession with Beck.

    Okay, THIS is funny.

    The hallmark of the second-rater:

” It’s resentment of another man’s achievement. Those touchy mediocrities who sit trembling lest someone’s work prove greater than their own – they have no inkling of the loneliness that comes when you reach the top. The loneliness for an equal – for a mind to respect and an achievement to admire. They bare their teeth at you from out of their rat holes, thinking that you take pleasure in letting your abilities dim them – while you’d give a year of your life to see a flicker of talent anywhere among them. They envy achievement, and the dreams of greatness is a world where all men have become their acknowledged inferiors. They don’t know that that dream is the infallible proof of mediocrity, because that sort of world is what the man of achievement would not be able to bear.” -Ayn Rand

I ‘hate’ to repeat, but: Something similar to the NZ advertising sign: “Be Noticed!, Expose yourself Out of Doors”! – Auckland, 1959.

  • The Real Royal King

All the Marys in Heaven, did his Mother dress him? What does she have against him? This sweater would make Anderson Cooper look fat.

Does the Nation of Islam allow red sweaters?

  • The Real Royal King

I’d have to punt to you, Righter, since I am not the authority on all things African-American you are. Could you get back to me with the answer? That’s a rhetorical qustion, by the way.

  • MooseOfReason

    Love ya, Glynnis.

  • writer

Thought sure you’d know, King. I did find a blurb about women, though. Seems there’s no interracial dating allowed. Who’d have guessed?

Nation of Islam Women Look Up and Out

    By Jeff Fleischer

    WeNews correspondent

Tuesday, August 2, 2005The Nation of Islam still maintains rules such as a ban on interracial dating, a dress code for women (including head coverings and no makeup or tight clothing) and a focus on traditional gender roles within the family.

  • The Real Royal King

I suppose if you were on topic, you’d have a real coup there, Righter. As usual, you’re not even close. The topic is Beck’s hideous sweater that makes him look bloated and dimitted. It’s a funny story.

  • Big_F-ing_Deal

    The Pillsbury Glow Boy.

  • MichelleF

And not a work about the substance of his show, which was GREAT. I’m not surprised.

  • writer

Since you’re a Farrakhan fan, King, just thought I’d ask. And how does a red sweater make Beck look dimwitted, exactly?

  • Fidoohki

I have to agree.. That sweater was just… oh man … maybe it was an response to the stuff Andy Stern
    sent him.

Great.. now we have Political fashion wars.

    The show was good though….

MichelleF – Beck tells you “What’s coming, ” “what you need to know” and “what you need to do” and that you tea-baggers need to “transform” yourself (I’m not touching that one) And now he’s decided that he needs to “teach you how to teach others” but of course what he is going to “teach you” is what he believes important (Yikes!) AND, its for sale. So I suppose if you are a member of the Glenn Beck cult you might find something of substance there, most cult followers, well, just follow. My advice, get as far away from GB as possible, and good luck.

I’d guess that in real life, the sweater probably looks good on him. It’s not exactly my color, but he looks comfortable and like any other Dad at a kid’s birthday party. What’s “wrong” is that it is distracting as Glynnis notes and the contrast with the background, sort of makes it look like he’s in front of a green screen.

I read “Christmas Sweater” by Glenn Beck. It was a fabulous story and should be put on any school’s reading list.

As for Mr. Beck’s sweater, I would rather look at it than Nancy Pelosi’s face any day. I’ll bet “the cocoanut with teeth” is especially hard to look at in the morning.

  • MichelleF

    Ted,
For future reference, I wouldn’t take advice from you if yiou were the last person on earth.

ps, Still nothing on the substance of what Glenn says. That speaks volumes.

  • valkyrie101

Isn’t that orange/red the color of the former Soviet flag?

  • writer

Maybe Glenn had a red wagon when he was kid, too. Let the investigation begin!

There is an e-mail I remember from quite some time that urged people to wear red on Fridays to support the troops.

  • pyrope

Arguing With Idiots is a good read, too.

“There is an e-mail I remember from quite some time that urged people to wear red on Fridays to support the troops.”

Was it from Hannity and Ollie? Is there a fee?

  • homie

“Arguing With Idiots is a good read, too.”

In the mind of an idiot? I have little doubt.

  • Sunnyr

God, THIS is “journalism?” Poor Glynnis.

BTW, I loved Glenn’s sweater and the entire show was a winner. WTG, Glenn!
