Band Plays Subway Concert Using iPhones As Instruments

As the music industry continues to crumble, major record labels can only afford to fund the bigger acts, leaving up-and-coming bands to find their own means of promotion. One band, Atomic Tom, took matters iPhones into their own hands when they played a full song for NYC subway riders — using only their smartphones.

The video claims that this ‘impromptu’ iPhone performance resulted from the band having lost their instruments, but we, like TechCrunch, are skeptical. The four young lads of Atomic Tom are equipped not only with mustaches and v-neck shirts, but also a speaker system and a camera. Brilliant viral marketing or nauseating subway ride? Decide for yourself with the video below.

If every passenger had their own TASER , this would not happen .

    Who cares?

I vote for nauseating subway ride. This would have been a good idea as an Apple/Iphone commercial, though.

I agree newsjunky! Who cares if it was “real”. It is very entertaining..and clever. I have all the apps they use (not because of the video, I just like playing around) and they will play that music (song)…and hey atomic tom has a great singing voice…so what the heck! It was awesome! iPhone should pick this video up and use it on TV!
