Band Plays Subway Concert Using iPhones As Instruments
As the music industry continues to crumble, major record labels can only afford to fund the bigger acts, leaving up-and-coming bands to find their own means of promotion. One band, Atomic Tom, took matters iPhones into their own hands when they played a full song for NYC subway riders — using only their smartphones.
The video claims that this ‘impromptu’ iPhone performance resulted from the band having lost their instruments, but we, like TechCrunch, are skeptical. The four young lads of Atomic Tom are equipped not only with mustaches and v-neck shirts, but also a speaker system and a camera. Brilliant viral marketing or nauseating subway ride?
