Guy Who Dumped Glitter On Gingrich Says ‘His Campaign Needed A Makeover’

video

Nick Espinosa, the guy who dumped a box of glitter on Newt Gingrich at a campaign event in Minneapolis Tuesday, says “the way this week has gone for (Gingrich), I think his campaign needed a makeover” and, after all, “glitter is a lot of fun.”

Espinosa said the protest (he said he was inviting Gingrich to “feel the rainbow”) was about gay rights. “I don’t anyone–much less a serial adulterer telling anyone who they can and cannot love.” Espinosa says he used only two of the three bags of glitter he had, but told ABC’s Rick Klein “I may have to save that one for Newt’s next wedding.”

The Liberals would not be celebrating if a priest had sprinkled Holy Water on the Gay guy.

Dislike Gingrich all you want, but it’s pretty damn disrespectful to do what this guy did to Gingrich and his wife.

This is of course celebrated by the liberal media. If someone dumped glitter on the Gay guy, the leftist outrage machine would be screeming HATE CRIME!

After sprinkling Gingrich with glitter, Nick Espinosa donned a pimp outfit and went to Planned Parenthood. But before his plane could leave however, Mr. Espinosa deployed the inflatible ramp, grabbed two beers and jumped.

I am a liberal, and I consider this a despicable act, and agree it should not be celebrated. The worst part is, it’s impossible to get rid of glitter. Sure you can brush off large amounts of it, but there’s always some clinging to your skin and your clothes that is just a pain to try to get rid of. I’m not a Newt fan, but he has all my sympathies in this.

  • The Lantern of Truth

This kind of dirty trick should be condemned heartily all around .

First of all, you have to give credit to the guy because his stunt generated publicity for his cause. The video Alex embedded in yesterday’s post — which as usual, Mark didn’t link — included the web address for his group, where I suppose one can get more information.

Also, as I touched upon after a couple of playful comments and as I tweeted, it was only a couple of years ago that city blocks were being shut down at any sign of white powder, but the fellow was able to dump glitter on a major US political figure in a a crowded room and was simply escorted to the door without anyone testing for anthrax. He may not have even been asked for identification.

And finally, as I’ve seen this story being bandied around the web and as you can see from the above clip, the protester was trying to draw attention to Newt’s stance on gay rights issues, but I haven’t seen anyone mention Gingrich’s half-sister Candace, who is an out lesbian and a prominent LGBT activist. On June 14 he dropped $20 worth of pennies on Emmer at the Ol’ Mexico Restaurant to highlight the plight, and low pay, of immigrant restaurant workers.

Today, 40 minutes into the debate, as Emmer was criticizing Independent Party candidate Tom Horner’s budget, Espinosa walked on stage and approached Emmer to hand him a “Dora the Explorer” doll with its string already pulled and talking away. To his credit, Democratic candidate Mark Dayton jumped out of his chair and tried to take the doll away from Espinosa, then stood in front of Emmer to shield him from the TV cameras. The doll still ended up in Emmer’s lap. Emmer laughed it off : “That one was better than the pennies,” he said once the debate resumed, and rather adroitly resumed his criticism of Horner’s budget.

Watch out conservative candidates-the left is now openly promoting physical attacks on Republican candidates. Obviously if this had been done to a Demo’Crupt the media wold have shouted comparisons of Tucson and no doubt another warning from Napolitano about the danger of anybody criticizing O-Mao-Bama. If campaigned with enough force by the Left and mediA and then the American people accept this we’ll see more of this progess to who knows what? Barack Obama has openly talked of bringing guns to knife fights and Trumka and his ilk getting pretty explicit lately. Watch out America! “Crupts want to disable this country by living at their level.

When someone on the left does something like this, they are just being creative and comical. When someone on the right does it, it’s hate. This is because liberals have a God-given ability to look at someone and tell if their motives are impure. Hat tip to ABC for publicizing this jerk and encouraging more like him. It’s like interviewing the guy who jumps from the stands at an athletic event and runs on the field.

I assume the fellow’s goal wasn’t to change people’s minds, but to bring attention to his group and perhaps drive some traffic to his website, where he peppers several of his blogposts with links and political expressions. Anti-fur folks pouring blood on people wouldn’t change anyone’s mind, nor does a naked Pam Anderson cause someone to become vegetarian, it simply draws attention to the cause.

Media is full of these type of empty calorie gestures. The past couple of days, this site has covered an appearance Jon Stewart made on Bill O’Reilly’s show. It was billed as a debate, but I’m sure neither person accepted the gig because they thought they’d persuade the other. In fact, it’s obvious they both could see and understand the other’s position before the cameras ran. The whole point was that they could articulate a stance and in the process, they could get some viral attention for their respective shows.

Only a jackass would defend this guy. I don’t think he deserves any “credit” at all. And what is his “cause”? That Republicans are meanies who don’t like gay people ? And as far as “stop the hate” is concerned, how about the people that beat the hell out of Bobby Jindal’s aide after pursuing her from a French Quarter Republican dinner they were protesting? What about the black guy beat up and ridiculed by the union thugs? Not to mention the rowdy and threatening Wisconsin protesters. And yet the left is quick to blame Palin for the Giffords shooting because of her “incendiary” speech. The hate mongers are on the left. Look for more attacks on GOP candidates disguised as pranks. If a gay Republican had dumped glitter on a Democrat politician, saying they “needed a makeover,” he’d be skewered, not interviewed on network TV. And the lefties have the gall to complain about James O’Keefe.

ABC news should be ashamed. Giving nutty people publicity for a physical attack is disturbing. No matter if it’s an envelope with powder or a glitter attack.

No where in the clip does it say that the activist is gay. I’ve personally lionized gay rights activists in blog posts over the years and have marched for LGBT rights, plus back in the 70s, I marched for the ERA and joined the NAACP. Yet, I’m a straight male of European descent.

Disagree. It would labeled a hate crime no matter what it was, while a middle aged straight white male is expected to simply endure the same action.

  • http://twitter.com/SailRabbits Magister

@fanofamerica: If the thing you were dumping was somehow related to the cause which you were protesting — Milk price stabilization; Ag subsidies; Off-shore drilling or mountaintop removal from my examples — the sexual orientation of the dumpee would not be an issue.

While on the other hand, if you were to dump glitter to draw attention to the dumpee’s sexual orientation or if you were protesting the fact that they were gay and nothing else, it would be an entirely different matter and in my opinion, it’d be worthy of derision.

BTW: Before someone points out that gay marriage is a legitimate issue. I don’t think dumping anything on someone opposing the concept would be the most effect method because there’s really nothing that could be dumped. (“Feel the rainbow” isn’t the right message) If I were advising, I’d suggest standing around reciting bible verses or singing hymns because it’d be a better visual and could not be misinterpreted.

Again, I disagree. That would only be true right up to the point where a it was revealed that the dump-ee was gay. Then it would become a ‘he was dumped on because he was gay.’ Same line of thinking that is used when someone disagrees with Obama’s politics — they are deemed a racist, no matter how legitimate their protest.

Then go out to the nearest gay bar, pick up some random guy, go back to his place and suck his dick. Go ahead, try it…..what, your not gay, well thaty’s the point asshole. Just because you can’t do it doesn’t make it wrong or insane. It just means people are made by our creator and wired differently. Studies show that 10 to 12 percent of all people are gay. If you think that makes them “insane” then you’re retarded.
