One day after the long-rumored breakup of prominent ESPN Radio pair Mike & Mike finally became official, the son of one member of the duo blasted the network for making the move.
In a series of Tweets Wednesday, Jake Golic, son of Mike & Mike‘s Mike Golic, criticized ESPN for breaking up a team which has been a network stalwart since 2000.

.@espn am I allowed to tweet that you guys are idiots now, or do I need to wait a year to announce that?

And we're back to breathing. Very excited for my dad, wingo, and mike to be on together. Going to be awesome!

Comments from Mike Golic, who addressed the matter on air for the first time Wednesday morning, suggest that, like his son, he may not fully agree with either the decision, or the manner in which it was handled.
“This has been the worst-kept secret for a long time,” Golic said. “The last year and a half have been somewhat interesting, if not eyebrow raising as well. For me, it’s not my story to tell. I’m going to continue doing this exact same show. It’s for others to tell who made this decision, if they want to tell it and how they want to tell it.”
Golic will remain on as host of a new show with Trey Wingo. Another of Golic’s sons, Mike Golic Jr., will join the new show daily from 6:00-7:00 am. The other half of Mike & Mike, Mike Greenberg, is moving to ESPN to host a three-hour morning show which will compete with the radio show’s simulcast on ESPNU.
