Department of Homeland Security Isn’t Confirming a Sheriff David Clarke Appointment Yet
So despite the fact that Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke announced today he’s accepted a job at the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Homeland Security had to tweet this isn’t official yet:
Sr. positions are announced when made official by the Sec. No such announcement w/ regard to the Office of Public Engagement has been made.

Sheriff Clarke said today he’s accepting a role as “an assistant secretary in the Department of Homeland Security.”
Clarke is a controversial figure who has been criticized not just for his fiery rhetoric, but for––far more seriously––the death of an inmate in his jail due to dehydration.
