CNN host Piers Morgan was grilled Tuesday by the Leveson Inquiry over his alleged involvement in phone hacking.

The ethics panel questioned Morgan over how the former tabloid editor got a hold of a voicemail of Paul McCartney he had sent to Heather Mills but Morgan held his ground, saying he would not compromise his source.

“I can’t discuss where I heard that tape or who made it,” rebuffed Morgan. “I’m not going to start any trail that leads to the identification of a source.”

Morgan finished the questioning by saying he felt “like a rock star” having an album brought out from a back catalog of his “worst ever hits.” “I do think there has to be a a balance here,” Morgan told the questioner, “A lot of the very good things the newspaper was doing and continue to do are not being highlighted at all, and I feel very slighted.”

Morgan looked guilty as hell.  Wonder if he will keep his job at CNN.

Piers Morgan is worried about “disclosing a source”?  Does he actually consider himself a journalist?  Call me old-fashioned, but he what he does is less than tabloid journalism by my standards.

You’ve got your information wrong. The voicemail in question was left in 2001, before McCartney even married Mills. In 2006, after they had separated, Morgan wrote about having heard the 2001 message.

yet CNN seems to think this slimeball deserves their flagship show, even if no one watches it.
say what you will about Larry King being out-of-touch, but at least he was likable.

I’m sure he was knee deep in this. Perhaps that’s why CNN got him so cheap.

Because of their accent and manner of speaking the English are fantastic liars so this was really fun to watch. I’m glad they don’t live here cuz I’d probably fall for any practical joke someone who talked like that said.

“Pardon me but isn’t that Mars coming at you through the window?”

    Me screaming.

When I want to watch mummies interview the world’s most boring people I’ll watch “Mummies Interview the World’s Most Boring People.”

He was the lead editor on two papers: of course that comes up under his purview. Try using your window instead of TV.
