Rick Sanchez Apologizes, Will Continue Promoting Book, Says “No Hard Feelings” With CNN

Rick Sanchez has released a statement today, apologizing for the comments he made last week that got him fired from CNN.

He also says he will continue promoting his book, and there are “no hard feelings” with CNN.

“Despite what my tired and mangled words may have implied, they were never intended to suggest any sort of narrow-mindedness and should never have been made,” he said in the statement, which included an apology and a shout-out to Jon Stewart. He also says there are “no hard feelings” between he and CNN.

Sanchez will continue his book tour “in the hopes of broadening the discussion to get a better understanding between all Americans, regardless of race, creed or religion.” We’re checking to find where the book tour goes next. In theory, he could conceivably show up on Fox News or MSNBC at this point.

Here’s the full statement, via Eric Deggans of the St. Petersburg Times:

On October 4th, I had a very good conversation with Jon Stewart, and I had the opportunity to apologize for my inartful comments from last week. I sincerely extend this apology to anyone else whom I may have offended.

As Jon was kind enough to note in his show Monday night, I am very much opposed to hate and intolerance, in any form, and I have frequently spoken out against prejudice. Despite what my tired and mangled words may have implied, they were never intended to suggest any sort of narrow-mindedness and should never have been made.

In the aftermath of these comments, CNN and I have decided to part ways. However, I want to go on record to say that I have nothing but the highest regard for CNN and for my six wonderful years with them. I appreciate every opportunity that they have given me, and it has been a wonderful experience working for them. I have tremendous respect for everyone there, and I know that they feel the same about me. There are no hard feelings – just excitement about a new future of opportunities.

I look forward to my next step with great anticipation. In the meantime, I will continue to promote my book, Conventional Idiocy, in the hopes of broadening the discussion to get a better understanding between all Americans, regardless of race, creed or religion.

No hard feeling my ass. LOL

  • marcus.lewis

Good for you Sanchez. I actually think it would be hilarious for TDS to hire Sanchez as a “senior latino correspondent”.

Aaahhh…..you didn’t exactly “part ways” Rick.
You got fired and if they had ” tremendous respect “ for you that would not have happened.

P.S. Your book is a flop.

  • Michele

First he stood behind his wife who said he apologized to Stewart, now this apology, it seems calculated but he has only himself to blame, and I imagine many in the Latino community may question the whole mess. I say good riddance find a job where you do not have to question their intent.

Perhaps he should review his shows on CNN, and learn that how he conducted himself was far from professional.

A few thoughts from Ft. Leavenworth, KS.

This is actually a bit anti-climactic.

Mr. Lewis…hey, you never know. ;-)

“Inartful” comments! That’s still my favorite. How you do “artfully” say “the Jews run the media”? It wasn’t a slip of the tongue. It was the idea itself that was offensive.

  • SnowSoul

Well, good luck to him on drawing his tens of fans to buy his book. He’ll need all the money he can get from that, I can’t imagine a serious news network would hire him even though he’s so incompetent, but I suppose that still leaves MSNBC. Maybe they’ll pick him up?

  • Iris

Of course we can see that at least CNN cares if their employees offend people, BUT LUCKY THERE IS FOX NEWS CAUSE THEY COULD CARE LESS!!! YAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!! What would we do with out the fox and freaks and steve doofus and wretched carlson

Perhaps you are confusing me with another MichelleF, or talking to another chick but I assure me I am a different Michele.

  • Iris

Where is Shelleys ghost? Come on MichelleF let everybody see how creative you are

  • greg454

And if the book doesn’t sell well he’s going to blame the Jews for it.

  • Big Eddie

Careful , Sanchez . When you are signing ( or making your mark in ) all those books , wear a brace if you start to feel carpal tunnelish .

  • Puter Boi

“I have tremendous respect for everyone there, and I know that they feel the same about me. ”

    He’s joking, right?

“Sanchez will continue his book tour”

I hope he isn’t doing the driving.

  • ConLoonPatrol

HIs apology statement is a load of crap.

Aside from that, I find it um, (amusing?) that none of the posters above noticed the irony of all this, in the name of his book.

  • Ted-

His apology is a load. He’s a sure bet to end up at Fox “News.”

I am Michéle D, the proud wife of one of US Army’s finest, the daughter of an amazing AF officer who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and served proudly in the USFA.

We all can express an opinion of the days events. I am sure MichelleF has offered her opinion, but I am damn proud of the name given to me and will defend it, and defend all other’s who are honest, insightful and respectful.

After all, isn’t this what my husband lays his life on the line for American’s to do.

Just a few thoughts from middle America Ft Leavenworth, KS.

I think a better apology would have been, “Hi…I’m Rick Sanchez…I’m not what you’ve heard. I’m you”.

    IT WORKED FOR CHRISTINE O’DONNELL!!!

  • Newsjunky

So… it took him five days for his PR firm to advise him that he needed to apologize? Further evidence that he has no brain of his own. Whatever. If he was truly sorry, he would have apologized immediately – not five days later.

  • Iris

leavenworth michelle just be glad you”re not Michelle F, im sure you actually have a life. If you hang out long enough you’ll catch on

American Jews make up only 2% of the population of America. Yet: 46% make over $100,000 per year, they make up 15% of the U.S. Senate, 13% of the U.S. House of Representatives, 67% of members of the Board of the Federal reserve, 33% of the U.S. Supreme Court. Media: Just taking CNN only, 55% of corporate officers for TBS, which owns CNN, are Jewish. On air, Larry King, John King, Howard Kurtz, Eliot Slpitzer, Jeffrey Toobin, Paula Zahn, etc.. Rick Sanchez has nothing to apologize for.

Should be something for him to do at Al-Jazeera.

  • VRWC Destruction Machine

No need to apologize, Ricky. You did CNN and us a favor.

  • OhioGal

To other posters: I think you all need to know that there are poor and powerless Jews all over this country – like me. No one ever offered me a job on TV because of my religion. I have waitressed and worked in lots of minimum wage jobs just like my parents.
My significant other is a Christian and we agree on morals, Israel, and being good citizens of the US.
And he makes more money than I do, thank God.
Rick Sanchez didn’t look Latino. But his over the top style always annoyed me. Jon Stewart is not my cup of tea either. He is a smart alec. And Colbert is really rude.
