Shepard Smith: ‘I Said “Blow Job” Once…What Can You Do?’

foxnewsanc_mst_16944963_maxRegardless of your feelings about Fox News in general — maybe you love, maybe you hate — it is nearly next to impossible not to love Shep Smith. Seriously. Not only is he actually fair and balanced, he is also just so damn charming. Not to mention, his narratives of live car chases are arguably some sort of cable news pop art. Anyway, I am a fan and would love nothing more than to have the Shep man do a Mediaite 5QQ. Alas, until that happy day arrives we will just have to settle for the Q&A Smith did with Men’s Journal. Some excerpts:

On-air gaffe: I said “blow job” once. J.Lo was coming back to the Bronx, and the idea was they’d rather give her a “curb job” than a “block party.” What can you do? You apologize for the blow job and you move on quickly.

Anchor: Sometimes the news is offensive and there’s not much you can do about it. But you have to be respectful of those who are hearing what you say. Tom Brokaw always had a really good grasp of the fact that he was coming into people’s homes during the family hour.

Thing about my boss: It comes every Wednesday at 3 AM, direct deposit. I’ve had some nice nights out with Rupert Murdoch. He’s a regular guy — for a multibillionaire running part of the media world. We were hanging out after he acquired American Idol. He was pretty excited; I was like, Oh, a British talent show — whatever.

OH, A BRITISH TALENT SHOW — WHATEVER.

I do adore Shep! He’s even honest about his faux pas, but most importantly, he isn’t arrogant and respects his audience.

I think we should flood his FB page with requests for a tête-à-tête with Mediaite!

just that slip-up where he said “blow job” instead of “curb job” in reference to Jennifer Lopez back a long time ago. I just wanted an excuse to show it. He really doesn’t seem that bad, if I remember right I think that he’s stepped out of bounds over there a few other times. I definitely don’t think that he belongs at Fox.

“It is nearly next to impossible not to love Shep Smith.”

    I love a challenge.

I imagine the helpless woman Shep purposely hit with his car while shouting profanities just because he wanted a parking space finds it easy not to love him (http://www.sptimes.com/News/111800/news_pf/State/National_TV_anchor_is.shtml ).

I don’t know how he gets away with that not being mentioned and gets painted as America’s Sweetheart. The case was settled out of court, but it was clear by the police accounts and the woman’s injuries what he did.

I guess conservatives want to think well of him because he’s on FOX and liberals want to think well of him because he’s makes the odd showy rant or gesture towards liberal views. Facts are facts, though. Shep is one of FOX News’ angry men and has very non-loveable violence and entitlement issues.

    I’m a conservative, and I despise Shep.

Anyone with half a brain knows why he had the word BJ on his mind…he was probably getting ready to give one. He’s harmless and his gayness should be celebrated. Get out of that closet already Sheppie!

  • SouthernDmaxDiesel

Ain’t no way in hell that he’s gay, he’s from Mississippi. If he was gay he woulda been hanged/lynched already.

He escaped the potential hangings and lynchings by using his magical fairy powers.

When I was a teenager on a date asking for a BJ was the next question I asked after being turned down asking for sex.
