Twitter Slams Mnuchin, Linton for Posing With Sheets of Cash: ‘Look Like Bond Villains’

The Twitterverse has quite a lot to say over today’s photos from Steve Mnuchin‘s tour through the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
The Treasury Secretary was joined by his wife Louise Linton and U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza when they observed the currency production process at the bureau’s printing plant. The signatures of the Treasury Secretary and Treasurer appear on every United States paper bill, so Mnuchin and Carranza used the opportunity to sign the new $1 bills.
During the tour, Mnuchin and Linton posed for a few photos of themselves holding up the money:

What happened next? Well, Twitter observers thought these pictures made the couple look out of touch oligarchs who could’ve walked out of a James Bond movie.

This wouldn’t be the first time Mnuchin and Linton got wrapped up in a moment of bad optics. Earlier this year, Linton apologized for going on boastful tirade about her family’s wealth after being criticized over a photo of herself and her husband disembarking from a government plane.
