University of Missouri Professor Melissa Click Resigns Her Appointment
University of Missouri media professor Melissa Click has resigned her courtesy appointment with the university’s school of journalism.
Click got lots of attention online for a video catching her harassing reporters who were trying to cover the protests on campus but shouted at the media to get out of their safe space.
She released a statement late Tuesday apologizing for her actions and saying she spoke to one of the reporters she shouted at, but according to The New York Times, she has stepped down from her position.
The dean of the journalism school posted this message on Twitter:
While the J-School faculty were meeting, Dr. Melissa Click resigned her courtesy appointment with the School. #Mizzou @mojonews

The school clarified during the online uproar that Click is not a journalism professor, just a communications professor.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this post said that she resigned her courtesy appointment from the Communication Department. Her appointment was with the School of Journalism.
