S.E. Cupp Battles Alex Wagner Over Ted Nugent, Similar Criticism of Bush Was ‘Lighthearted’

S.E. Cupp battles Alex Wagner video

On MSNBC’s Now with Alex Wagner, New York Daily News columnist S.E. Cupp and Wagner’s panel got into a heated exchange over controversial remarks made by Ted Nugent about Democrats and President Barack Obama. Cupp, while not defending Nugent’s remarks, made it clear that President George W. Bush had it bad and there is a “double standard on this issue,” while Wagner said criticism of Bush was made in a “more lighthearted fashion.”

Sean Hannity Confronts Russell Simmons On Calling Him ‘More Gangsta’ Than Snoop Dogg

Picture 3 video

Tonight’s Hannity boasted a fairly special interview, and one of those rare occurrences where two people who disagree on most everything about politics can get together and debate passionately without lacking in warmth. The guest? Russell Simmons, rap mogul turned Occupy Wall Street sympathizer who came on the program to argue the merits of the movement to a skeptical Hannity, and wound up trying to defend a comment that Hannity was “more gangsta” than Snoop Dogg.

Common Tells Jon Stewart What It Was Like To Be Attacked By Fox News And Sarah Palin

Common Daily Show video

If you’re one of those people who remembers the ridiculous dust up this past spring in which various conservative politicians, blogs, and nearly every person who had an ounce of airtime on Fox News tried their darndest to make it a thing that the Michelle Obama had invited Common and Jill Scott to read poetry at the White House, here’s some nice closure.

Culture Wars: Is Friends With Benefits Star Mila Kunis Fit To Be A ‘Patriot’? O’Reilly Says Yes

Picture 10 video

The original “Culture Warrior” Bill O’Reilly began his program last night with a lengthy discussion on how pop culture is destroying America with Laura Ingraham. Ke$ha, Rihanna, tattoos, and “prosti-tots,” Ingraham railed, were besieging the youth psyche in such a way that parents must unite to save the nation’s future. It was standard fare for the Factor, but made it all the more surreal when, at the end of the program, he unveiled the day’s “Patriot”: Mila Kunis, star of a film about two best friends having sex with each other to avoid actual relationships.

Fox Business’ Eric Bolling Apologizes For ‘Hoods In The Hizzouse’ Remarks About President Obama

bolling9 video

Fox Business’ Eric Bolling drew criticism for remarks he made on Friday’s edition of Follow The Money, accusing President Obama of hosting “hoodlums” in the “hizzouse,” and later, referring to The White House as”the big crib.”

Following publication of my column denouncing the segment, Bolling and I had an intense, yet civil, debate on Twitter Sunday night, and tonight, he issued a brief apology for the remarks.

40 Ounces And A Tool: Fox’s Eric Bolling Says President Obama Hosting ‘Hoods’ At The ‘Hizzouse’

hizzouse Video

Fox Business’ Eric Bolling stirred controversy awhile back when he converted the pint that President Obama shared on a trip to Ireland into a bigger-and-deffer 40 oz, and this past Friday, he rolled out some more hip-hop parlance, accusing Obama of hosting “hoodlums” in the “hizzouse,” and later, referring to The White House as”the big crib.”

Lawrence O’Donnell Praises O’Reilly On Stewart Debate: ‘Brave Enough To Admit That He Lost’

Picture 2 video

Ever since Donald Trump bowed out of the 2012 presidential race he was never in, Lawrence O’Donnell has been in quite the charitable mood to the right. Yesterday he stood up for the rights of the conservative-leaning Boston Herald, and today he lauds the courage of… Bill O’Reilly? Yes, it’s true: O’Donnell aired the results of the Fox News poll showing viewers thought Jon Stewart beat O’Reilly in their recent debate and noted O’Reilly had, too, proving he was “brave enough to admit that he lost.”

Hey Guess Who Won Bill O’Reilly And Jon Stewart’s Debate Per A BillOReilly.Com Poll? (Update)

oreilly_stewart2-300x180

On Monday night Bill O’Reilly invited Daily Show host Jon Stewart on his show to discuss and debate the alleged controversy surrounding last week’s White House performance by Common. As is often the case, at the end of the segment that aired Monday, O’Reilly asked his viewers to vote in a poll at BillOReilly.com and adjudge “Who had the stronger argument regarding Common at the White House?” between the two cable news personalities. The results may surprise you! Update.

Jon Stewart To Bill O’Reilly: ‘There Is A Selective Outrage Machine Here At Fox’

oreilly_stewart1 video

Daily Show host Jon Stewart appeared on Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor tonight to debate the merits of the career of rapper Common with host Bill O’Reilly. Stewart had been invited on the show last week after he had delivered what some had described as a pretty epic takedown of the alleged controversy surrounding the performance by the Chicago-based rapper at the White House last week. Watch the spirited debate after the jump.

What To Expect From Tonight’s Debate Between Jon Stewart And Bill O’Reilly

oreilly_stewart video

The controversy surrounding the White House performance by rapper (and Gap spokesman) Common was not just overstated, but some felt that it was primarily fueled by Fox News. Daily Show host Jon Stewart went after Fox News over their coverage, in a segment that immediately went viral. Fox News elder-statesman Bill O’Reilly took exception to Stewart’s critique, and gracefully invited him on to The Factor to debate the issue which will air this evening. Fox News has released a preview of the segment after the jump.

MSNBC’s Touré: Why Don’t Conservatives Applaud Common’s Support Of The Second Amendment?

Picture 3 video

The Common hip-hop scandal is thankfully necessarily over as his White House performance went off without any controversy. On last night’s Dylan Ratigan Show, regular Touré gave his post-mortem to the scandal, highlighting an interesting point lost in the whole kerfuffle: if Common raps about carrying a gun, should conservatives applaud him for exercising his Second Amendment rights?

O’Reilly Scolds Beck: ‘If I Was Cindy McCain, I’d Slap The Hell Out Of You’

Picture 2 video

Glenn Beck has gotten nothing but tongue-lashings for his recent theatrical vomiting at the mention of Meghan McCain‘s body, and he ended the week with one final slap on the wrist from colleague Bill O’Reilly. While Beck tried to justify his behavior compared to the controversial comments made by rapper Common, O’Reilly had none of it and commended McCain’s mother, Cindy, for striking back at Beck.

Jon Stewart Agrees To Debate Bill O’Reilly Over ‘Common Controversy’ On Monday

Picture 1

Get some sleep Sunday night and invite friends over, Monday night’s going to be a good TV night (and I’m not talking about Dancing with the Stars). Jon Stewart says he’ll accept Bill O’Reilly’s offer to come on the O’Reilly Factor Monday night to debate the much-debated invitation of rapper Common to a poetry event at the White House. O’Reilly made the offer on his show Thursday night after Stewart’s rapping “Tone Def Poetry Jam” take on Fox News’ coverage of the event.

Jon Stewart: Newt Gingrich Abandoned Dying Media To Take Up With Newer, More F*ckable Media

Stewart Video

On Thursday night’s Daily Show, host Jon Stewart took all-too-brief aim at Fox News’ Common-fueled hysteria, before moving on to ex-Fox newser Newt Gingrich‘s Twitter-licious announcement of his 2012 run for president. While the segment showed early brilliance, the gags about Gingrich’s lack of hipness, and illustrative square-shaped head, were no match for the laugh-out-loud coinage of the term “Fox-ygen.”

Glenn Beck On Common Scandal: ‘The President’s Actions Clearly Indicate That He Is Anti-Cop’

Image1 video

The poetry event “scandal” must be over now, right? I mean, Jon Stewart showed clips proving that Fox News hosts had both misunderstood the lyrics of the rapper Common and had defended artists singing worse lyrics. Besides, Common and performed last night without incident. How could anyone possibly continue this debate? Well, if you’re Glenn Beck, you could spend the first 10 minutes of your show repeating everything Sean Hannity’s said all week.

Ed Schultz To Al Sharpton: Is There ‘Underlying Racism’ Behind Fox News Criticizing Common’s WH Invite?

Picture 8 Video

Ed Schultz and Al Sharpton discussed how quickly the controversy over Common‘s White House invitation to read poetry erupted as a result of Fox News’ ongoing coverage. Schultz referenced Sean Hannity‘s critique that this is an example of Obama returning to his “radical roots” and asked Sharpton whether such comments raise “red flags?”

Watch Common’s White House Poetry Performance

Common‘s appearance at the White House has caused its fair share of controversy, particularly among Fox News pundits, but not too much has been said about his actual performance at a poetry event hosted by Michelle Obama.

Sarah Palin: White House ‘So Lacking Of Class And Decency’ With Common’s Invite

Picture 7 Video

Sarah Palin stopped by On the Record last night to discuss presidential politics, her thoughts on whether President Obama is now too strong of a candidate after successfully ordering the killing of Osama bin Laden and also to reveal her disapproval of the White House invitation for the rapper/poet Common. Citing Common’s controversial lyrics about cop killing, Palin resurrected one of her past lines, “come on, Barack Obama, who are you palling around with now?”

Jon Stewart’s Epic Takedown Of Fox News For Pushing Common’s W.H. ‘Controversy’

stewart_common_5.11.11 Video

On tonight’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart took an artistic approach to dealing with Fox News’ substantial coverage of the controversy (or “controversy,” depending where you’re sitting) surrounding the White House’s inclusion of rapper and actor Common in a poetry event.

Stewart not only pointed out the hypocrisy in going after Common, yet not, say, Ted Nugent, and even offered viewers a rap of his own. Yes. Jon Stewart rapped.

Bill O’Reilly And Panel’s Heated Debate On Rapper Common’s White House Appearance

obama_common_5.11.11 Video

Bill O’Reilly brought on a panel to discuss the White House’s decision to invite rapper Common to a poetry event. As you may be aware, some on the right have criticized the choice, even prompting a response from White House press secretary Jay Carney about the resulting kerfuffle.

Panel member Leslie Marshall, a liberal radio host, told O’Reilly that while she didn’t want to come across as a “real white nerd” or anything, her research into rap indicates that Common is not a “gangster” or a “thug,” and has done charitable works in addition to addressing some complex social issues in his songs.

WH Defends Rapper Controversy: Fox News Previously Called Common’s Music ‘Very Positive’

White House press secretary Jay Carney tried his best to tamp down the flames of the ongoing brouhaha regarding the White House’s invitation to the rapper Common, who in the past used controversial lyrics. Carney attempted to make the case that the invitation should not symbolize an approval of everything Common ever said or did, and even tried citing Fox News for some support.

Singer Jill Scott Is The Next White House Guest Being Targeted As Racist By The Right

Scott

A short while ago, Drudge Report tweeted out this quote: “When my friend told me his wife was Caucasian, I felt my spirit wince.” Intrigued, I clicked the accompanying link to find a column the singer Jill Scott wrote for Essence about her feelings on interracial dating posted in March of 2010. At first, I wondered why on earth Drudge Report was interested in a year old column by a singer. Then it hit me; she’s going to the White House, isn’t she? Sure enough, Scott is the latest guest of the First Lady’s poetry event to come under fire from the Right.

Hannity Hates Common’s Anti-Bush Rhetoric, But Defended Ted Nugent’s Violent Anti-Obama Rhetoric

hannity video

On Tuesday night’s Hannity, host Sean Hannity joined a chorus of conservative objectors to rapper Common‘s invitation to a White House poetry event. In particular, Hannity objected to a line from a Common poem that said “Burn a bush for peace,” and said that “If this was somebody who used the same type of rhetoric about violence against President Obama I would be against it.”

So what did Hannity have to say when rocker Ted Nugent suggested that then-Senator Barack Obama “suck on” his machine gun?

Sean Hannity On Rapper’s White House Invite: Obama ‘Goes Back To His Radical Roots Again And Again’

Image1 Video

Just when Sean Hannity may have feared he would have to spend the rest of the year discussing President Obama‘s effective counter-terrorism policies, finally Hannity has a new controversy for him to really sink his teeth into. Hannity was “baffled” that the rapper Common is who the White House “chooses to set as an example for our kids.”

Feud Alert! Sarah Palin, Fox News, Rapper Common And White House Ready To Brawl?

common-sarah-palin

In the great tradition of rap feuds, this one definitely is not as violent as some past conflicts, but it sure is escalating just as quickly. First Lady Michelle Obama raised some conservative eyebrows by inviting the rapper Common to a poetry event at the White House. And that was enough to trigger a wave of outrage.
