New York Gov. David Paterson, after all those supposed bombshells in the New York Times earlier this year, found himself mostly out of the news lately except for a World Series ticket flap here and Park 51 news item there. Unluckily for him and luckily for those who like unfortunate televised slip-ups, though, that just changed.

Former John Edwards aide and faux-baby-daddy-for-hire Andrew Young was handed a relatively stiff sentence today, as a judge ordered he and his wife to be jailed for contempt for up to 75 days. At issue is Superior Court Judge Abraham Penn Jones’ suspicion that the Youngs have failed to turn over all copies of an alleged sex tape featuring Edwards and mistress Rielle Hunter.

Whispers have been building about huge news regarding New York governor David Paterson, who took office after the resignation of Eliot Spitzer. Friday, The Huffington Post noticed the growing media buzz about a forthcoming New York Times scoop, but little other information could be gleaned from the handful of anonymous sources. Now, The Business Insider is reporting exclusively that the news will drop Monday and Governor Paterson’s resignation will follow.
