How can one person raise 14 children? That was the question Ann Curry sought to answer this morning on the Today Show as Nadya Suleman and nine of her many children gave their first live television appearance. We got a taste of the logistical nightmare that having this many children is as the interview continuously needed to be stopped as various Today anchors chased the wandering children around the set.

In a truly depressing (or if you’re into celebrity gossip, “scandalous!”) interview with In Touch, Nadya Suleman discusses the deep regret she has for having 14 children. This is kind of like the deep regret a person has after eating way too much. Only it’s for the rest of your life. And 14 other lives too.

So not so much like that.

If the media were a politician who had to answer the question every incumbent party dreads “are you better off now than you were eight years ago?” it would be in for a sweeping defeat. And in fact, the media, or the media as we knew it at the beginning of this decade has suffered a sweeping defeat — will we even have newspapers in ten years? Doubtful.

So it’s that time of year. Everyone is trying to figure out who the most important person of the year is. Time will be releasing their pick shortly (though they have been known to apply the term “person” loosely). So: Who is the most important person of the year? Capt. Sully over President Obama? By now everyone knows that last week’s Balloon Boy incident was a hoax, pulled off by a family desperately hoping to land a reality television show.* The quest for fame through ignominious means is not a new phenomenon by any stretch. However, children on reality television is a rather newish trend and so far pulling in terrific ratings. Is it all that surprising the Heene family tried to get a piece of the action?

Apparently, there is a nice lady named Nadya Suleman who has fourteen kids, eight of whom she had at the same time. Some people call her Octomom. She looks like Angelina Jolie, supposedly. Intrigued?
