SAINTS! The New Orleans Saints are the winners of Super Bowl XLIV, coming from behind to defeat the Indianapolis Colts and golden boy Peyton Manning to take the championship back to Bourbon Street and their wounded — but not broken! — hometown. It’s a pretty awesome story.

New Orleans wasn’t the only city ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, but it came to represent that awful destruction for the entire region. Tonight, with the Saints in the Superbowl, they represent a return from that disaster, and a renewal. So as much as everyone loves Peyton Manning, the Colts’ QB who has a shot of real greatness tonight, he shouldn’t be offended that pretty much everyone outside Indianapolis is rooting for the Saints.
